Sport hunting

While the sport hunting lobby is well-organized and aggressive, they represent a very small and declining portion of the overall population. Both angling and sport hunting are no longer popular outdoor activities. According to a federal report released in 2000, "The Importance of Nature to Canadians", only 3.5% of Ontarians engage in the sport of hunting but yet they are given 100% of Ontario's natural resources including our parks and conservation areas, affording wildlife no protection.

Boreal forests

Ontario's forests are part of the world's largest terrestrial ecosystem, The Great Boreal Forest. The Peaceful Parks Coalition is working hard to educate Ontarians about the importance of this threatened ecosystem. Our current projects focus on eliminating clearcutting and tree plantations from these beautiful and misunderstood forests.

Parks and Protected Areas

They are the province's biological reserves and deserve real protection. But are they truly protected in Ontario?
